Dr. Lubhani Jain

Dr. Lubhani Jain is a vitreo-retinal surgeon and uveitis specialist.

She has an excellent academic background having done her MBBS from KEM hospital, Parel, Mumbai followed by her MS Ophthalmology from Madras Medical College (RIO-GOH), Chennai. She subsequently pursued her long term fellowship in vitreo-retinal surgeries and uveitis from the prestigious L.V Prasad Eye Institute. In addition she holds a DNB Ophthalmology degree and is a Fellow of International Council of Ophthalmology (UK). She is also certified from Harvard university in quantitative methods in clinical and public health research.

Apart from her centre, Dr. Lubhani is also attached to Godrej Memorial Hospital, Vikhroli, Zynova Shalby hospital, Ghatkopar and The Bombay east rotary charitable trust, Ghatkopar. In the past, she has worked at Bombay city eye institute and research centre for over 4 years, where she was heading the retina and uveitis department. During this time she was closely associated with Vision Foundation of India for ‘Project Sugar n Sight’, a pan-India, artificial intelligence based, diabetic retinopathy telescreening and treatment project which treated over 5000 patients.

She has been the Joint treasurer and Managing Committee member, Bombay Ophthalmologists’ Association, 2019-20.

Dr. Lubhani is proficient in diagnosing and managing retinal disorders, retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) and uveitis. She has a vast experience in performing lasers (4000+) for vitreoretinal conditions including ROP, photodynamic therapy (PDT) and administration of intravitreal injections (1000+) for treating posterior segment pathologies.

She is an expert in microincision vitreo-retinal surgeries such as pars plana vitrectomies for retinal detachment, diabetic vitrectomies, macular hole and epiretinal membrane removal surgeries, pars plana lensectomies, nucleus and intraocular lens drop surgeries, scleral buckles, scleral fixated intraocular lens implantations, intraocular foreign body removal and management of endophthalmitis.

She is passionate about research and academics. She has to her credit research papers in national and international journals and has participated in national and international conferences. She has trained many postgraduate students and fellows and was the student editor for the “Residents Journal of Ophthalmology” of the Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, Madras Medical College.

She’s a life member of All India Ophthalmological society, Bombay Ophthalmologists’ Association, Vitreo-retinal society of India and national neonatology forum among others.
